Audiology Services

Audiologists at the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with hearing and balance disorders.  Our audiologists have the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and are members of the American Academy of Audiology.

Services and products available through our facility include:

  • Comprehensive hearing evaluations for all ages
  • Hearing instrument selection and dispensing
  • Single-sided deafness evaluation and recommendations (Cochlear Corp Baha, Oticon Ponto, Sonitus SoundBite)
  • Custom earplugs for noise and water protection
  • Tinnitus evaluation
  • Cochlear implant evaluation and programming
  • Electrophysiologic testing -- otoacoustic emissions (OAE), electrocochleography (ECochG),  auditory brainstem response testing (ABR)
  • Vestibular testing with Videonystagmography (VNG) and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP)

Treatment Information

The Audiology Service offers a complete hearing device program.  The components of the program include:

  • Detailed hearing test and evaluation of individual listening needs
  • Selection of specific hearing device and accessories
  • Evaluation of performance with amplification

We offer a variety of hearing devices to suit individual needs.   There is a 30-day adjustment period for prospective hearing aid users.  With the guidance of the audiologist, the individual may keep, exchange, or return the device(s) for a refund of the device(s)’ cost minus a $200 per instrument user fee.
