Basic and clinical research have been an integral part of the mission of Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation (NMFF). Foundation physicians are national leaders in many areas of basic and clinical research and are committed to finding answers to today's most disabling and puzzling medical problems. Working collaboratively with the scientists of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, our physicians are translating exciting research advances discovered in the laboratory into more effective treatment approaches and prevention strategies for our patients.

Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Research Centers
The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern is comprised of research programs specific to cardiovascular disease.

  • Clinical Trials Unit of Northwestern: established in 2005 to provide the infrastructure necessary to assist investigators in performing high quality clinical research trials.

  • Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute: with a two-fold mission to improve the quality of human life through creative basic and translational research in cardiovascular disease, and to build a legacy of outstanding scholarship, scientific achievement, and therapeutic discovery.

  • Program in Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine: a rapidly developing field that seeks to regenerate damaged tissue in the body.  While conventional medicine attempts to improve the function of damaged tissue with medication or surgery, regenerative medicine seeks to grow new cardiac and vascular tissue in a number of ways.
