Travel outside the United States can bring you into contact with illnesses that include (A, B & C). Careful preparation and education helps ensure healthy travel. A visit to our travel center will provide you with a personalized health care plan. The education you will receive can help you avoid unexpected difficulties such as refused admittance into certain countries due to lack proper immunization.

The Travel Medicine & Immunization Clinic (TMIC) specializes in the prevention of travel-related and vaccine-preventable illnesses. Our mission is to help you stay healthy while traveling abroad through individualized consultation with experienced travel medicine experts. Individual pre-travel care and consultation services minimize the risk of commonly encountered health problems that may occur during international travel. Customized health care plans, education, immunizations and medication recommendations are tailored to your itinerary or medical needs. In addition, we provide consultations and medical referrals if illnesses arise after you return home, giving you the peace of mind that accompanies comprehensive care. For the non-traveler, we offer routine immunizations and tuberculosis screening.

The center is overseen by physicians from the Division of Infectious Diseases at The Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, and staffed by specialized travel medicine nurses, from Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, who will take time to make sure you are prepared for a wonderful travel experience.

A referral is not necessary to schedule an appointment. The TMIC treats patients 18 years and older. If you are seeking travel medicine for a person under the age of 18, we will refer you to pediatric care.
