Your visit or stay - what to expect

When you arrive at the Galter Pavilion, you may go directly to the Department where you have an appointment. If you need assistance with directions, please visit the Patient Services Center on the first floor of the Galter Pavilion or the Information Desks on the first or second floor lobbies.

When you arrive in the Department, a receptionist will greet you. The receptionist will then verify your appointment, ask you to review your demographic and insurance information, and collect your referral or authorization form if appropriate. Following this, you will be asked to have a seat in the waiting room. While you are waiting, the receptionists will be available to assist you or answer any questions you might have.

Questions to ask

You may wish to come to your appointment with a list of questions you would like your physician to answer. You may also want to ask the following questions:

• How can I reach my physician or nurse
• What number do I call in case of an emergency
• How will I find out about my test results

If you are coming to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for an inpatient stay or outpatient testing or procedures, please follow the instructions that you were given at the time the appointment was made at the hospital.
